Rosie, Kevin,Duncan and Moyra continue to build…….
Rosie came to finish the woodwork on his second guitar. This one will be fitted with ‘variax’ electronics ripped out from a guitar he bought on ebay. It was quite a bit of work – he needed to make a lot of extra patterns to accommodate the parts. Now he will leave it with us as he wants a full gloss paint job. Billy will be painting it sea foam green. Rosie will be back in a few weeks for assembly and set up.
Kevin came for 3 days to start making his bass. During that time he pretty much finished the neck. Here you can see him sanding around the edge of the headstock. Next time he will make the body and finish the bass. This is Kevin’s second instrument made on the course.
Last time Duncan came he glued the back onto his acoustic. Now he has to bind it. He is using rosewood strips for this which must be pre-bent before they can be glued on. You can see his body clamped to the bench – he has just inlaid a piece of rosewood for the tail piece end graft.
Well, Moyra is making a beautiful parlour acoustic from cocobolo, she has made her front, back, and sides and will start assembling the box next time.
