Kithara Special Archtop Guitar
£4,919.00
Archtops are the pinnacle of the guitar world – the construction is based on a cello – that involves a LOT of work and along with the master quality materials used throughout explains the high price of these instruments. If you are looking for a cheap guitar you are in the wrong place!
Only the very best master quality flame sycamore back and sides, and the European spruce soundboard are used to combine and create the traditional jazz sound essential to that style of music.
The neck is made from a one single piece of quartersawn master flame sycamore – the very best. The ebony fretboard has the conventional 20 frets and 25 inch scale length associated with archtops and a 14th fret neck body join is standard on these instruments, adding to the traditional feel jazz players are accustomed to. The fretboard has been inlaid with mother of pearl to clearly mark the fret positions. This particular neck has quite a large profile almost like a classical guitar great if you like a ‘vintage’ feel.
All the body hardware is made from ebony – the bridge, finger rest and tailpiece adding to the classic look. It is bound with ebony, creating a crisp, clean, black edge all the round which is not only very attractive but also very tough and durable to withstand knocks.
The whole guitar has been treated with an antique stain and nitrocellulose gloss – the ultimate guitar finish. It’s super shiny and tough but best of all very thin so it allows the instrument to resonate naturally for better tone.
A Benedetto humbucker is mounted to the finger rest in the neck position with a single volume control. The output for the pickup is through the special end pin jack which also allows a strap to be used – a lot of archtops don’t have this, as the tail gut holding on the tailpiece normally takes up the place of a strap.
“This guitar has been a favourite in the workshop since it got finished – I guarantee you will love it…If not send it back because I do!”
“I get asked a lot – How can you sell them they are so beautiful….You’re right it breaks my heart but the thing that keeps me going is that then I can make another one! I hope it goes to a good home and has a long and happy life…”
