The original…
I played acoustic guitar for a long time before I designed my first. I knew exactly
what I wanted: the best possible balance between maximum tone, easy playability
and good looks.
If you are going to make a guitar by hand there is no point scrimping on the materials
to save a few pennies, I wanted this to be the best guitar in the world. So I chose
the rich full sound of Rosewood back and sides, with a Sitka spruce soundboard for
projection. I had to have mahogany for the neck for its tonal superiority and feel.
The fretboard and bridge could only be Rosewood to match the back and sides.
I would like to think that I got it right first time. I would also like to think
that each one is slightly better than the last as every one I make has the advantage
of just a little more experience to add to the mix…but of course mine is
still the best in the world! I still play it every day and love it. The Bailey acoustic
that started it all.
